1. Introduction: Dance Ups is a community-based dance workshop created to offer support, therapy, fun, and engagement through movement. The safeguarding of all participants is a top priority. This document outlines the safeguarding measures and risk assessment strategies in place to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.
2. Safeguarding Policy

Supervision: A responsible adult (volunteer) is seated by the entrance throughout the workshop.

Attendance Control: Participants are not permitted to leave during the workshop for non-essential reasons, such as visiting the shop. They are required to bring their own water bottles and refreshments.

Signing In and Out: A register is maintained where participants must sign in and out, including an emergency contact.

Emergency Contact: A register is maintained with emergency contact details for all participants.

Safe Space: The workshop promotes a positive and inclusive environment, free from discrimination and bullying.

First Aid: Dance Ups is led by Chi, who is certified in First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, ensuring quick response to any medical or emotional needs.

Safeguarding Training: Chi holds a QNUK Level 2 Award in Safeguarding Adults in Health and Social Care (RQF), equipping her with the knowledge to identify and respond to safeguarding concerns.

Enhanced DBS Checks: Both Chi and her volunteer hold Enhanced DBS checks, ensuring suitability for working with young and vulnerable participants.

Incident Reporting: Any safeguarding concerns or incidents will be recorded and reported in accordance with safeguarding procedures.
